In fact, when the floor of tank is depended on soil bed or foundation it is called on ground tank. The impact of earthquakes on structures suggest that most of them show non-linear behavior during earthquakes, but due to the complexity of nonlinear analyses, linear analyses are replaced by nonlinear analyses. A steel tank is made of three main components: shell, roof and floor. Tank floor is bed sheet which is depended on a dense bed or is foundation extended. Its roof is made as fixed or movable depending on the type of stored material. In this study, the behavior of steel tanks is investigated. The parameters studied include geometry of tanks and water filling (full, half full and empty). The results of this study indicate that steel tanks in full state bear more stress in comparison to half-full and empty states due to high stresses resulted from fluid static forces to the walls. کلیدواژهها (Keywords) : on-ground tank, seismic behavior, steel tanks.
